It's a great pleasure to welcome participants to the 1st Journal of Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice - Borneo International Pharmaceutical Conference (JoPPP-BIPC) 2024.

Pharmaceutical policy and practice research deal with the issues related to medicine regulation, medicine access, medicine optimization, utilization, and medicine use. It also addresses questions such as how and why people access pharmacy services; how much pharmaceutical care costs; and what happens to patients when they use these services. Appropriate research into pharmaceutical policy can produce real benefits for both the use of medicines and resource allocation for medicines. 

However, publishing the research in an appropriate and high-impact forum is a crucial component for initiating policy benefits.  Journal of Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice (JoPPP) fulfils this dimension, and the conference material will be published in a special supplement of the journal.

The conference aims to highlight the latest evidence-informed pharmaceutical policy research both within the local and global context. It will also discuss the updates in medicines, access, use, and medicines optimisation and pharmaceutical policy research.

Building on the success of previous conferences, we also hope that the conference will help build global and regional networks related to clinical pharmacy, pharmacy practice, policy, and social behavioural, and administrative aspects of pharmacy.
